# Vincent Romanelli, DDS — Website, SEO/AEO, and Growth Audit

**Audit date:** August 25, 2026
**Production site:** <https://vincentromanellidds.com>
**Scope:** public website, mobile/desktop UX, accessibility, content, conversion paths, local SEO, AEO/entity signals, technical performance, public DNS, migration risk, and reusable VRCG/Performance Percussion operating methods.

## Executive diagnosis

The practice has a much stronger real-world story than its website communicates. The site establishes a local family dentist and shows positive patient sentiment, but it behaves like an old brochure: thin service content, dated articles, generic imagery, weak calls to action, incomplete provider/entity evidence, accessibility defects, and unnecessary JavaScript. It is not a sound foundation for an ongoing search and answer-engine content program.

The right move is a controlled rebuild on the existing domain—not a domain change. Preserve every valuable URL, replace the visual and technical system, establish verified practice facts, publish strong provider and service pages, then build a doctor-reviewed answer library around real patient questions.

### Five highest-impact actions

1. **Confirm the source of truth.** Resolve contradictory hours, practice name variants, services, insurance, credentials, appointment process, and whether implant/orthodontic/sedation claims are current.
2. **Rebuild the conversion foundation.** Real office photography, one clear H1, click-to-call, directions, request-appointment flow, current hours, new-patient information, and accessible forms.
3. **Create one authoritative page per verified service.** Start with family/preventive, emergencies, implants, restorative, cosmetic/whitening, root canal, and clear-aligner services only if currently offered.
4. **Protect migration equity.** Keep `vincentromanellidds.com`, preserve good paths, and use tested one-to-one 301 redirects for every changed URL.
5. **Build authority on the canonical site.** Doctor-authored/reviewed answers, accurate citations, real local mentions, and a consistent review process will outperform a network of thin backlink domains.

## Evidence labels

- **Verified:** directly observed on the public site, in the browser, in current public records, DNS, or the PageSpeed report.
- **Proposed:** a recommended design or operating choice.
- **Confirm:** requires Dr. Romanelli, the practice manager, GoDaddy/Kinsta, Search Console, or a regulated-service vendor to verify.

## Priority findings

| Priority | Finding | Business impact | Action |
|---|---|---|---|
| P0 | Google Business Profile hours observed during the audit conflict with the old “Saturday office hours” article. | Patients and search systems may receive contradictory information. | Confirm actual hours; update the site, GBP, and citations; rewrite or redirect the obsolete article. |
| P0 | Ordinary crawler-style HTTP requests received 403 responses at the current edge. | Search and AI crawler access may be impaired. This is a risk, not proof that verified Googlebot is blocked. | Inspect Kinsta/Cloudflare security events plus Search Console crawl stats and URL Inspection. Test verified Googlebot, Bingbot, and OAI-SearchBot. |
| P0 | Existing pages, posts, archives, pagination, and review URLs are discoverable/indexable. | A careless rebuild can lose rankings and accumulated history. | Produce and test a one-to-one redirect map; never send every retired URL to the homepage. |
| P0 | Contact and review forms invite free text without a visible “do not submit health information” warning or clear privacy treatment. | Sensitive appointment details could enter an unverified workflow or analytics stack. | Verify the form destination and BAA/HIPAA posture. Until then, collect only basic callback details and tell users not to include clinical information. |
| P0 | DNS currently carries GoDaddy-hosted mail records. | Changing nameservers without copying mail records can interrupt email. | Inventory and reproduce all MX/TXT/DKIM/DMARC/autodiscover records before DNS cutover. |
| P1 | Homepage has no H1; contact uses an H2 as the primary heading; blog archive has no H1. | Weak page meaning for visitors, assistive technology, and search systems. | Use one clear H1 and a concise answer-first introduction on every page. |
| P1 | Most core pages lack meta descriptions. | Poor control over search-result messaging. | Add unique titles and descriptions tied to actual page intent. |
| P1 | Services are compressed into a short bullet list with no dedicated treatment pages. | The site cannot satisfy high-intent questions or compete for service searches. | Build verified service pages with process, candidacy, limitations, alternatives, cost factors, and FAQs. |
| P1 | No `Dentist`, practice `LocalBusiness`, or real provider `Person` entity was found in current schema. | Weak entity understanding and provider connection. | Build a connected practice/provider/service/article JSON-LD graph. |
| P1 | Article schema attributes posts to `jsinger`, not Dr. Romanelli; visible pages lack meaningful authorship. | Poor medical-content trust and inaccurate structured authorship. | Add real author/reviewer bios, review dates, and matching schema. |
| P1 | Mobile navigation is a non-semantic hamburger with no accessible name, role, keyboard target, or state. | Keyboard and assistive-technology users cannot reliably operate it. | Use a real button with `aria-expanded`, focus management, and a visible skip link. |
| P1 | Phone displays are usually plain text; “Come See Us Today!” points to `#`. | Preventable loss of calls and appointments. | Make every phone a `tel:` link and route every CTA to a specific next step. |
| P2 | Eleven blog posts are all from 2018–2019 and include obsolete or overbroad claims. | Stale medical content weakens trust and can mislead. | Clinically review, substantially update, consolidate, or redirect each article. |
| P2 | BBB displays `(847) 426-7122` while the site and stronger current sources use `(847) 458-7122`. | Entity inconsistency can confuse patients and local search. | Verify the correct number and submit citation corrections. |
| P2 | Generic stock images dominate while the real doctor/team are barely visible. | The small-practice advantage is hidden. | Commission authentic doctor, team, exterior, reception, and treatment-room photography. |

## UX and conversion audit

### What is working

- The site communicates a gentle, small-office, family-oriented feel.
- The address and main phone are visible.
- Same-day emergency care and long-term patient relationships are differentiators worth preserving, subject to confirmation.
- The layout adapts to a 390-pixel mobile viewport without obvious horizontal overflow.
- Current public reviews indicate a strong reputation that the site can use more effectively.

### What is not working

- The hero says “Creating Brilliant Smiles,” but does not immediately answer who the practice serves, where it is, why it is different, or what the visitor should do.
- “Make Appointment” goes to a generic contact experience rather than a clear appointment path.
- The contact form starts well below the first mobile viewport after the map and stock imagery.
- Current hours, accepting-new-patients status, emergency instructions, insurance/financing, and appointment expectations are not presented clearly.
- The testimonial carousel produces a large amount of repeated/cloned DOM content and makes old first-party reviews more prominent than fresh reputation proof.
- There is no useful new-patient landing page.
- There are no visible privacy, accessibility, terms, medical-information, or editorial-policy pages.

### Proposed homepage hierarchy

1. Authentic doctor/team image; “Gentle Family Dentistry in Algonquin, Illinois”; Call, Request Appointment, and Directions actions.
2. Compact trust bar: verified Google rating/review count, current hours, accepting-new-patients status, emergency availability—only after confirmation.
3. Why this practice: continuity, gentleness, personal care, experience, and same-day help.
4. Verified priority services with links to full pages.
5. Dr. Romanelli introduction with credentials and philosophy.
6. What to expect as a new patient.
7. Selected current, permissioned patient proof plus direct Google profile link.
8. Answer library highlights.
9. Location, hours, accessible directions, and a final call-to-action.

Use a sticky mobile action bar for **Call**, **Request**, and **Directions**. Replace embedded Maps on initial load with a static preview or direct Maps link; load an interactive map only after user action.

## Content and information architecture

### Current weakness

The `/services/` page is effectively a short list. It does not answer candidacy, process, benefits and limits, alternatives, aftercare, cost variables, insurance, or who performs each step. Phrases such as “Incredible Easy Dental Implants NEW!!” and “6–10 Month Smiles” feel dated and require factual verification.

### Proposed structure

- `/`
- `/dr-vincent-romanelli-dds/`
- `/team/` if staff biographies can be maintained
- `/new-patients/`
- `/insurance-financing/`
- `/services/`
- `/services/family-dentistry/`
- `/services/preventive-care/`
- `/services/emergency-dentist/`
- `/services/dental-implants/`
- `/services/restorative-dentistry/`
- `/services/root-canal-therapy/`
- `/services/cosmetic-dentistry/`
- `/services/teeth-whitening/`
- `/services/clear-aligners/` only if the current treatment is verified
- `/services/sedation-dentistry/` only if the current treatment is verified
- `/reviews/`
- `/contact/`
- `/oral-health-resources/`
- `/areas-we-serve/`
- `/privacy/`, `/accessibility/`, `/terms/`, `/medical-disclaimer/`, `/editorial-policy/`

Do not create interchangeable pages for Algonquin, Lake in the Hills, Huntley, Carpentersville, and every nearby town. A genuine areas-served page and useful local context are appropriate; duplicated location doorway pages are not.

## SEO, local SEO, and entity audit

### Verified positive signals

- The homepage has a title, description, canonical URL, English language setting, and index/follow directive.
- HTTP and `www` variants redirect to the HTTPS non-`www` canonical host.
- The practice has established directory footprints, including ADA, Healthgrades, CareCredit, and Google.
- The existing domain has long-running citations and content history; it should remain canonical.

### Verified gaps

- No practice-level `Dentist`/`LocalBusiness` graph and no meaningful Dr. Romanelli `Person` entity were found.
- Core pages other than the homepage generally lack descriptions.
- Homepage, blog archive, and contact heading structures are incomplete.
- Service intent is not represented by dedicated pages.
- Blog authorship is assigned to a marketing login.
- The Google profile’s website link was observed using `http://`; change it to the final HTTPS canonical URL and add an appointment URL.
- Public name variants include “Vincent A. Romanelli, DDS,” “Vincent Romanelli DDS,” “Romanelli Dental,” and “Romanelli Dental Offices PC.” The practice must select the accurate patient-facing brand and connect the legal entity without stuffing keywords into GBP.
- A public phone inconsistency exists: `(847) 458-7122` on the site/stronger listings versus `(847) 426-7122` on BBB and some secondary results.

### Recommended entity graph

- `Dentist` with stable `#practice` ID: verified name, legal/alternate name, URL, logo, authentic images, address, phone, geo, hours, map, payment methods, areas served, and verified `sameAs` profiles.
- `Person` with stable `#dr-vincent-romanelli` ID: DDS suffix, role, biography, authentic image, `worksFor`, verified education, memberships, training, and official profiles.
- `Service` nodes for only the services the office currently provides.
- `BlogPosting` with visible author/reviewer, medically reviewed date, and citations.
- `WebSite`, `WebPage`, and `BreadcrumbList` connected to the same graph.

Self-controlled review markup should not be presented as a way to win organic review stars; Google treats reviews about the controlling LocalBusiness as self-serving for review-snippet eligibility.

### Local competitive gap

Nearby practices already expose clearer high-intent journeys than the current site. [Algonquin Dental Associates](https://www.algonquindentalassociates.com/) presents dedicated family/service paths and online booking; [Prestwicke Dental](https://prestwickedental.com/emergency-dentistry) has a focused emergency page with questions and a specific action; [Advanced Dental](https://adicalgonquin.com/) makes provider credentials and implant information easier to find. The goal is not to copy their designs. It is to close the information and conversion gap while differentiating around Romanelli’s personal, long-term, small-practice care.

Several nearby Maps competitors also had materially larger review counts than the 22 reviews observed on Dr. Romanelli’s profile. A neutral, consistent post-visit request process and responses to every review should be an operating habit, not a one-time campaign.

## AEO/content program

There is no separate shortcut for “AI SEO.” The practical system is crawlable, concise, well-evidenced content with stable entity facts and clear internal relationships.

### Page template

Each treatment page should contain:

1. A 40–80-word direct answer beneath the H1.
2. Who the treatment may and may not suit.
3. Symptoms or reasons to seek an evaluation.
4. What happens before, during, and after a visit.
5. Benefits, limitations, risks, and alternatives in plain language.
6. Realistic timelines and cost/insurance variables without unsupported promises.
7. Real patient questions as visible FAQs.
8. Clear links to related services and answers.
9. Dr. Romanelli author/reviewer identity, reviewed date, and primary references for clinical claims.
10. A useful next step—call, request, or emergency instruction.

### First content clusters

Build commercial service pages first, then supporting answers:

- **Emergency:** what counts as an emergency; knocked-out tooth; broken tooth; severe toothache; dentist versus ER/911; what same-day means at this office.
- **Implants:** confirm placement versus restoration; candidacy; timeline; implant versus bridge/partial; bone/smoking/diabetes considerations; cost variables.
- **Root canal/restorative:** symptoms; root canal versus extraction; pain expectations; recovery; crowns and restorations.
- **New patients:** first visit, records, verified insurance, financing, accessibility, hours, and forms.
- **Cosmetic/whitening:** realistic outcomes, sensitivity, maintenance, alternatives, and who should wait.
- **Prevention:** cleaning frequency, bleeding gums, flossing, sports mouthguards, and tobacco/oral health.

Existing emergency, implant, sensitivity, flossing, tobacco, and whitening URLs have useful intent. Update them deeply and preserve their paths where practical. Remove or redirect obsolete hours content; consolidate overlapping cosmetic articles.

## Accessibility audit

Verified issues include:

- No main landmark and no skip-to-content link.
- Mobile menu trigger is not a semantic button and lacks an accessible name/state.
- Social/email icon links lack discernible names.
- Contact and review fields rely on placeholders rather than persistent labels.
- Several important images have missing/blank alternative text.
- Lighthouse flagged color contrast and unnamed-link failures.

The rebuild should target WCAG 2.2 AA: semantic landmarks, keyboard-complete navigation, visible focus, persistent labels, informative validation, appropriate alt text, reduced-motion support, sufficient contrast, and automated plus manual testing.

## Technical and performance audit

### Actual PageSpeed lab results

Google’s public PageSpeed Insights report had **no field data** for this URL, so these are Lighthouse lab results—not real-user Core Web Vitals. [Open the measured report](https://pagespeed.web.dev/analysis/https-vincentromanellidds-com/9c7pj9k7ha?form_factor=mobile).

| Metric | Mobile | Desktop |
|---|---:|---:|
| Performance | 76 | 73 |
| Accessibility | 91 | 91 |
| Best Practices | 96 | 96 |
| Basic SEO checks | 100 | 100 |
| First Contentful Paint | 2.9 s | 0.7 s |
| Largest Contentful Paint | 3.0 s | 0.9 s |
| Total Blocking Time | 500 ms | 640 ms |
| Cumulative Layout Shift | 0.032 | 0.028 |
| Speed Index | 3.9 s | 1.3 s |

The “SEO 100” score covers a small set of technical checks. It does not evaluate local rankings, entity completeness, medical-content quality, service depth, backlink quality, or conversion performance.

### Main causes observed

- Approximately 1,470 DOM elements; the Slick testimonial track has 31 children and cloned content.
- Estimated render-blocking savings: 2.03 seconds on mobile and 0.45 seconds on desktop.
- About 196–197 KiB of unused JavaScript.
- JavaScript execution around 1.5–1.7 seconds and 10–14 long tasks.
- Google Maps transferred roughly 397 KiB and used about 547 ms of main-thread time in the desktop trace.
- Google Tag Manager transferred roughly 276 KiB and used about 443 ms of main-thread time; legacy Universal Analytics coexists with GA4.
- WordPress jQuery 3.7.1, jQuery Migrate, and an additional jQuery 1.11.1 are all present.
- Contact Form 7/reCAPTCHA and Maps-related code appear beyond pages that need them.
- Console reports `grecaptcha is not defined`.
- Maps uses deprecated loading/event/marker patterns.

### Replacement target

Use build-time/static semantic HTML, optimized AVIF/WebP images with dimensions, minimal client JavaScript, self-hosted/subset fonts where appropriate, one privacy-reviewed analytics implementation, and page-scoped third parties. A static or click-to-load map will remove much of the Maps cost.

## Privacy and regulated-data caution

This audit is not a legal opinion. The current free-text appointment/review workflow and tracking stack warrant review. HHS guidance specifically discusses situations where unauthenticated appointment or symptom forms can disclose health information when trackers collect identifying data and reasons for care. The safest interim website flow is a minimal callback request with no symptom/treatment field, an explicit instruction not to submit health information, no session replay, and a verified destination. Use a HIPAA-capable vendor and BAA for clinical scheduling or patient communication.

Do not copy Performance Percussion’s Cloudflare KV lead system for patient symptoms, treatment details, or appointment reasons.

## Reusable VRCG and Performance Percussion methodology

These patterns transfer well:

- A canonical fact/claims sheet before writing copy.
- Crawl → inventory → transform → parity-verify migration.
- One source-controlled site and generated deployment artifact.
- Noindexed preview deployments and a production rollback window.
- Automated release gates for metadata, H1/main/skip target, links, JSON-LD, sitemap, redirects, accessibility, assets, and security headers.
- Answer-first service pages and visible FAQs.
- Doctor-reviewed topic hubs rather than isolated posts.
- Search Console, patient calls, consultations, and reviews as the content-demand inputs.
- One authoritative answer re-cut into blog, short video, social, email, and FAQ formats.
- Source → request → confirmed appointment attribution, without tracking sensitive form content.

Do **not** mechanically reuse VRCG satellite/city-domain tactics. VRCG’s own records document canonical, duplicate, 404, robots, and sitemap issues on satellite domains. Do not copy PP’s ordinary lead CRM into a healthcare workflow.

## Redesign direction

The brand opportunity is **warm, personal, clinically credible, and modern—not corporate-chain dentistry**.

- Authentic palette and typography with strong contrast; avoid generic medical blue overload.
- Real Dr. Romanelli, team, building, reception, and treatment-room photography.
- Calm, direct language for anxious patients.
- Small-practice continuity and family relationships as proof, not vague slogans.
- Clear emergency, call, directions, and request actions on every device.
- Provider credentials and editorial accountability close to medical claims.
- Fast pages that remain useful with JavaScript disabled.

Suggested homepage metadata, subject to service verification:

- **Title:** `Family Dentist in Algonquin, IL | Vincent A. Romanelli, DDS`
- **H1:** `Gentle Family Dentistry in Algonquin, Illinois`
- **Description:** `Family, cosmetic, implant and same-day emergency dental care in Algonquin. Call 847-458-7122 to request an appointment with Dr. Vincent Romanelli.`

## Decisions and facts needed before copy/build

- Exact patient-facing practice name and legal entity.
- Current office hours, holiday/emergency process, and accepting-new-patients status.
- Education, license context, memberships, years in practice, continuing education, and approved biography.
- Every service currently provided; who performs implant placement/restoration; aligner/orthodontic brand; sedation/anxiety options; technologies used.
- Current insurance participation, out-of-network policy, CareCredit/financing, payment methods, and consultation terms.
- Scheduling system, phone routing, after-hours procedure, and form destination/BAA.
- Accurate team roster and approved photos.
- Accessibility, parking, language, and building information.
- Google Business Profile, Search Console, Analytics, Kinsta/WordPress, GoDaddy, and email-administration access.
- Written rules for patient testimonial/photo/case permissions.

## Bottom line

The site should be replaced, but the domain and accumulated URL history should be protected. The first milestone is not “write 50 blogs.” It is a verified practice fact sheet, a strong provider/new-patient/service foundation, a migration-safe build, and reliable measurement. Once that foundation is live, a consistent doctor-reviewed answer program and real local relationships can compound authority.
